Krishna Pawan Kumar won the National award in Music Competetion.

Krishna Pawan Kumar has won the Second Prize (No one has been given the First prize in Carnatic Wind Instrument) in the National Level Music Competetion conducted by the All India Radio in the first attempt itself. By virtue of winning this competetion, he will become a “B” Grade AIR Artist.

All India Radio conducts a National Level Music Competetion every year in both Carnatic & Hindustani style of Indian Classical Music for youngsters in the age group of 16-24 Years. In the preliminary round, the participants will be asked to perform in the respective AIR station for 20 minutes and the recorded CD’s would be sent to some other AIR Station like Bangalore or Chennai.
It is not necessary that winners are declared in this competetion. Only if the quality of music presented by the performer is good, then he would be considered for the final round. In the final round the selected participant will have to perform for half an hour and again the recorded CD is sent to either Chennai or New Delhi AIR, where in they receive similar recordings from other stations and again, if the quality of the music presented is up to the mark, winners are declared. Apart from the cash Prize and a certificate, the winners are automatically given gradation. An artist can also get gradation by appearing for audition for which the Artist should at least be 18 years old for which Krishna Pawan Kumar had to wait for two more years.

AIR grades all musicians as B, B-high and A Grade. Artists like Dr. Balamuralikrishna, Sri. T.N. Sheshagopalan, Dr. Kadri Gopalnath, Mandolin U. Srinivas are graded A-Top.
