ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಶಿವಳ್ಳಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮವಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ನೆಲೆಸಿದ ಶಿವಳ್ಳಿಯೂ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಒಟ್ಟು ೩೨ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಯೂರಿದರು. ಅವರು ಯಾವ್ಯಾವ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ್ಯಾವ ವೈದಿಕ ವೃತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು ಎ೦ಬುದನ್ನು ನಿರೂಪಿಸುವ ಗ್ರಂಥಕ್ಕೆ “ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪದ್ಧತಿ” ಎ೦ದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ವ ಷೋಡಶ ಮತ್ತು ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಷೋಡಶ ಎ೦ದು ಎರಡಾಗಿ ವಿಂಗಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲೂ ಒಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಮನೆತನಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಲೆಗೊಳಿಸಿ ಪರ್ಯಾಪ್ತವಾದ ಕೃಷಿಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಉಂಬಳಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅನುಕೂಲವನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ೩೨ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ [...]
