1. Most of you people might not knowing about how these many surname have appeared. Of course it is by the fact that each of these surnames represent different castes and their work. For ex Mogeraya surname is got from Mugaveers which is the caste of fishermen and likewise other surnames too.
   Now you might be wondering what is the link between brahmins and other castes.
   It happened during the time when Madhwacharya time when he converted other caste people into brahmins and from whichever caste they have come, the surname came along with it.
   So the hidden truth is most of these so called brahmins are not brahmins at all.
   As people say truth is always bitter

   I am from Odisha. My surname is Mohapatra. We are priestly class people and we worship Lord Shiva.I searched the list but couldn’t find anything regarding this surname. Kindly help me.

11. As per my father’s lineage I am supposed to be the following, Shivalli Smarta, follower of Adi Shankara, Gaudapada etc. Bhargava gotra, original family name Adiga changed to Rao. My father was from the village Badakere. But all these are mere names and ideas of the body and ego. Best to find out who I really am before the body dies from prarabdha karma.

12. We belong to shivally bhramin. We have no more connections in South Karnataka (base of shivally bhramins). Our ancestors told that our gotra is Angirasa, but we do not know our kuladevaru and Mata. Can you find out same and inform us, for which we will be grateful to you.

15. I am a Nada Shivalli Brahmin. We Nada Shivalli Brahmins are mainly Jamindars who used to have more land properties compared to others. We are mainly found in Nidle near Dharmasthala. Our elders used to say that we were the Brahmins who used to live in South Canara much earlier than other Shivalli Brahmins.And in my house we do Panchayatna Pooje, so I don’t know about other Nada Shivallis but we might be Smartha Shivalli . And my family elders used to say that our Guru matta is Bale kudru Matt . Our Nada Shivalli Surname was “Iyya” which was added as a Suffix to our Name. Nowadays we dont put “Iyya” as Surname , instead of that we add “Rao” initial to our name.
