1. Thanks a lot for this idea and effort behind this. This helped me and my cousins to trace our Surnames.

2. My family name is “kekuda” and our kuladevata is Anantheshwara. We are shivalli madhva brahmins. Can i know why i m not able to find that name here?

5. I had sent a request regarding inclusion in the shivalli brahmin sect (if we belong to that sect) more than six months back.. However no action has been taken so far. Neither is there any feedback on that issue! All I get is comments from others like me! Kindly give me a reply as to where I belong…

7. Hello Hareesh,

   There are many Kulas with Vishwamitra Gotra.So its difficult to pin point a particular surname.
   If you have Dhananjaya pravara,then your moola Kula deva is Kandavara Karthikeya Subrahmanya(near Kundapura).
   If your pravara is other than Dhananjaya(like Madhuchandass,devavrata etc), it has to be Neelavara Mahishamardini (near Brahmavara).

   Regarding your Matha,if you are a Madhwa brahamana ,then it can be any one of the ashta mutts.
   If you belong to bhagavata sampradaya,then its Balekudru mutt.

   I have heard that all people having Dhananjaya pravara had surname as Udupa,and later got different surnames as they branched out from the root family.

   If your kula Devata is neelavara mahisha mardini,then you have to be a shivalli brahmin as other communities like Kota/koteshwara have kula Devata/magane Devata as saligrama narasimha
