Guru of Madhvacharya was from thotanthilaya clan and was from nandikuru. Its documented. This was in 12th century. Hence for thontathilaya family, nandikuru durga parameshwari may be the kula devaru. There is a famous hotelier from puthige who made name in nagercoil who is a thotanthilaya and he too believes nandikuru durga parameshwari to be his kula devaru

The Balekudru mutt is a Bhagavata Sampradaya mutt , this Sampradaya was followed by Acharya Madhwa and has close resemblance to Madhva Siddantha. The followers today are still there , it is unfortunate over the past few decades it has started to follow avaidic principles like Bhasmadharana in the evening which is against Bhagavata Sampradaya. Bhagavata Sampradaya has been condemned by Sankaracarya in numerous Sankara Vijayas and his condemnation of the Pancharaatras. The Balekudru Swamiji must be brought back to the fold of pure Bhagavata Sampradaya.

I am a Nada Shivalli Brahmin. We Nada Shivalli Brahmins are mainly Jamindars who used to have more land properties compared to others. We are mainly found in Nidle near Dharmasthala. Our elders used to say that we were the Brahmins who used to live in South Canara much earlier than other Shivalli Brahmins.And in my house we do Panchayatna Pooje, so I don’t know about other Nada Shivallis but we might be Smartha Shivalli . And my family elders used to say that our Guru matta is Bale kudru Matt . Our Nada Shivalli Surname was “Iyya” which was added as a Suffix to our Name. Nowadays we dont put “Iyya” as Surname , instead of that we add “Rao” initial to our name.
