“It is my wish that the government I head should speak less and work more, I want my colleagues in the cabinet should reach out to the people and know their difficulties first hand,” said Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa when met by the Presspersons at Dharmasthala on Sunday.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said that in a democracy people were the masters and the rulers where their servants. My party gives me the mandate to follow the wishes of the people and I will work in accordance with their wishes. Thanking the heavens for opening up, Mr. Yeddyurappa said all the reservoirs of the state were full which was nothing but divine grace, and it was time for the government to put down its head and take up developmental programmes and wipe the tears of the people. He said the days are not far when we could give free power to the farmers as promised in the manifesto.
Mr. Yeddyurappa agreed that the free power would have an extra burden of Rs. 2250 crores but when compared to the facility it gave the farmer to grow more food, it was nothing. Mr. Yeddyurappa also said that the scourge Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district Chikungunya will not be allowed to run amuck again.
Earlier at Udupi speaking to presspersons outside the Krishna Math Mr. Yeddyurappa said he and his ministers have been monitoring the menace of Naxalites and will deal with them with iron hand. He said the police forces especially the anti Naxal Force were instructed to not to spare any measure to bring down the naxal activities in the Malnad region.
Spelling out the government’s plan to modernize the police forces Mr. Yeddyurappa said the police forces will be provided with modern weapons, new vehicles, better facilities to deal with threats of the terrorists and naxalites. He said with a tinge of emotion in his voice that I will keep visiting Dharmasthala, Udupi and Kukke Subramanya as long as God permits me and will continue to pray in these great temples for the welfare of the people of the state in particular and the country in general.”
Later in the afternoon Mr. Yeddyurppa visited the Kukke Subramanya temple where he had a round of talks with the swamiji of the Subramanya math HH Vidyaprasanna Thirtha and received prasadam from him. His cabinet colleagues Shobha Karandlaje, V.S.Acharya, Krishna Palemar, K.S.Eshwarappa also accompanied him. At Subramanya and Udupi he offered special poojas to the deities. He will leave Subramanya to Bangalore at 9.05 and arrives in Bangalore in time for the session of the Legislative Council at 10.30am.
