We live in Mysore for last 27 years although originally from Odisha. In 1992 when we were new in Mysore, my family consisting of my wife, son and daughter visited the Temple of Maa Durgaparameswari in Kateel. The archaka did puja for us and explained the powers of the goddess. He narrated the story when heavy flood in the river Nandini was overflowing and created danger for the idol of goddess and the archaka took the idol firmly close to his body and prayed to Maa Durga to protect Herself. And surprisingly the flood receded. We believed the story without knowing much on it.
Although about 25 years have passed, we still vividly remember the temple, the goddess and the sceneries of Nandini and mountains all-around. During that visit our children were in school and now they have grown up and with the blessings of goddess Durgaparameswari they are settled in the USA. And we are also happy in Mysore, visiting children regularly. While writing this, I am making a wish of visiting Kateel in the early opportunity and pray to Maa Durgaparameswari to look kindly to the wellbeing of my children, keep them well & happy and protect them from evils. Also I pray to goddess Durgaparameswari to fulfil some of my life’s unfulfilled wishes.
